Russ Yallop is going from strength to strength. With a hectic global tour schedule which has seen him recently return from BPM Festival in Mexico, remixes of Layo & Bushwacka, Jamie Jones & Art Department as well as a whole host of releases on Hot Waves, Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels, Rebellion and beyond, we’re pleased to welcome Russ to Fire to perform at Neon Noise Project on Saturday 9th March alongside Booka Shade and Lindstrøm live, Marc Romboy and more.

Ahead of his show we caught five minutess with Russ to find out three tracks that have inspired him to where he is today.

Russ: I’m a fan of the whole album so picking any one track of here would be wrong, but it’s safe to say this album was a gamechanger.  In one album you have big chunk of the whole spectrum of dance music in all it’s shapes and forms, made so early in the day.  It prettymuch is part of my conciousness.

Russ: I remember when I first heard this track it opened my eyes to how you could use the dark, sinister, edginess often found in other genres of music in 4/4 based dance music, but without having to go too ‘mental’ if you know what I mean. This track it sinister, but subtle.

Russ: Not so old I know and almost a bootleg but I remember this track as being such a standout. The bass was so funky and killer and it worked so well that it really paved the way for the groovy bass driven house music that has taken over dance music the last few years.
