Ahead of Take London at Fire on the 17/12 we thought we’d give a brief history on their headliner, Huxley. Huxley (Michael Dodman) grew up in the town of Tring, Hertfordshire and got into dance music in his early teens. He started with happy hardcore before getting into garage and then house. Starting off producing UK garage in his bedroom he has now developed his sound and known for producing house to tech house to techno.
Huxley’s CV speaks volumes releasing on labels like Hypercolour, Tsuba and 20:20 Vision, with an array of club hits but also releasing his debut album on Aus Music, which has become a regular outlet for him to release his music on. Never remaining too comfortable with a particular sound, Huxley—whether working solo or with friends Sam Russo or Ethyl— always experiments with new sounds with great success.
When DJing, Huxley is able to control a huge crowd on a festival stage but also able to maintain the vibe in small, sweaty basements. He was invited onto none other than DJ Heidi’s Boiler Room and his set was met with critical acclaim. His touring schedule has taken him all over Europe to Africa and Australia, always delivering a high energy, high octane set. Huxley is recognized for having a great and eclectic taste in music, so much so that he was invited to and continues to have his own show on Rinse FM. He uses this platform to showcase his own new music but also invites guests having had artists such as And.ID, Truncate and Vin Soul pass through so far.
Next up is his new project “No Idea’s Original” a platform for Huxley and similar artists to release house and techno, with the aim of developing it into a regular clubnight showcasing the sounds Huxley is famous for.
Huxley plays Take London on 17/12 playing alongside Ejeca, Pete Dorling, Longplay + Take Residents.
